Case Histories

Water Control for Gas Wells

Polymer gels are effective for selectively blocking the flow of water to the wellbore, without adversely affecting the ability of gas to flow to the wellbore. This occurs because the polymer has a chemical affinity toward water-wet rock. Click for more information about water control in gas wells.

Water Control For Oil Wells

The use of polymers to control water production in producing wells is well documented. Results have been impressive. Treatments can reduce water production by an order of magnitude and increase oil production by a comparable factor. Click for more information about water control in oil wells.

Water Flood Enhancement

The primary waterflood applications of Polymer Gels are injection profile modification and control of directional channeling and the resulting early water breakthrough in offset producing wells. Click for more information about water flood enhancement.

Casing Leaks

In some circumstances, Polymer Gels can be used successfully as an alternative to cement, or in combination with cement, to squeeze casing leaks. A number of processes have been developed for this application. Click for more information about casing leaks.

Workover Applications

An operator had been unsuccessful in previous attempts to fish an anchor and 300' of tubing from a depth of 7500', in an old well in Garvin County, Oklahoma, because of several deep casing leaks that had been acting as thief zones, preventing the circulation of fill-up out of the hole, A review of the casing inspection log led to the decision to spot two 25 bbl slugs of Leakblock-HD polymer over severe leaks noted at 5800' and 4200', respectively. Leakblock-HD Polymer

This high viscosity elastic system is most effective for larger leaks in producing wells, as a protective annular gel in disposal or injection wells in which the exact location of leaks can not be determined and for certain lost circulation applications and shutting of unwanted perforations. This system has been shown to be very effective in sealing off salt section casing leaks in producing wells, which often give up large volumes of water, but are very difficult to successfully squeeze with cement. In severe cases, Leakblock-HD polymer may be pumped as a buffer ahead of cement, to increase the effectiveness of the cement, and prevent further erosion and breaking down by the cement.Click for more information about leakblock-HD polymer.
