(Douglas Sand - Barber County, Kansas)

Operator perforated Douglas Sand @ 3400-3406. Well swab tested 50 barrels
of water per hour. Shut in tubing pressure 950#. Well put on pump for
600 BWPD, 100 Mcf gas (declining). Operator determined water-coning from
below Douglas formation, near wellbore, poor cement bond or vertical fracture
out of zone.
Polymer Services, LLC designed a multi-stage high density polymer gel treatment
to seal the near wellbore channel, with minimal damage to the gas productive
interval. A total treatment volume of 75 bbl HDLV polymer gellant was
pumped, followed by 60 bbl condensate. The well was shut in 5 days to
allow maximum development of gel strength.

Initial production was 250 Mcf Gas, and 200 BWPD. The water depleted to
50 BWPD, and the gas increased to 600 mcf, one month after treatment.
After 18 months, production has stabilized at 300 Mcf, with minimal water
production

Casting:
5 ‡" @ 12,000' TUBING: 2 7/8" @ 11,600
Perforations: 11,670-11,743' and 11,752-11,771' (92' overall)
Formation: Granite Wash
Temperature: 206 degrees @ 11,724'
Salinity: 35,000 ppm
Porosity: 8%
Initial Production: 1 million cfd Well was shut in prior to polymer
treatment. No Production. 19-foot interval from 11,664 - 11,685' was producing
78% for the water. Am in-situ polymer gellation treatment was designed
for this well, using a modified polyacrylamide chromium-redox system.
The recommended treatment procedure is as follows:
- Packer
set @ 11,640' to isolate zone for treatment.
- Pump 80
BBL 2% LCl preflush with 5 gal. XC-302.
- Pump 300
BBL PERMBLOK I delayed crosslink polymer system.
- Pump 100
BBL clean-lease crude with 5 gal. LCI to re-establish hydrocarbon permeability.
- Shut well
in 48 hours to allow maximum development of gel strength.
- Place
well back on production. Well is currently producing 800,000 cfd, after
6 months.
Estimated
treatment cost: $22,495.00
